Amanda E Crawford, biographical sketch

"Amanda E. (Crawford) Gregory was b. 2-401831. She was the oldest of twelve children born to Wilkinson and Nancy (Sims) Crawford. Three of her brothers and sisters survive her, to wit: Mrs. J. E. Dodd; John Crawford of Marion Co.; and James Crawford of Texas. Her mother, Nancy Sims, was the dau. of Stark Sims, who was the son of Rodom Sims, one of four Revolutionary soldiers buried in Ralls Co. He (Rodom Sims) is buried in Crawford cemetery, on the old dirt road between New London and Hannibal. Nancy Sims and Wilkinson Crawford are also buried there, with a number of their infant children. Amanda Crawford married James P. Gregory, 2-5-1846. Eight children were born to this union, two of whom preceded her in death: Ann, wife of James Lane; Lizzie, wife of Henry Lane; Lou, wife of A. A. Fitzpatrick; Thomas, James and Wilkinson. She died Feb. 18, 1899. Burial was in Olivet Cemetery, Center, Missouri."
