Abraham Lott

Details of his 4 marriages

"Abraham Lott lived in Brooklyn after his marriage to Claesie Langstraet, for here on the Brooklyn Church records we find the following, April 25, 1696, Abraqham Lott, Claesje Landstraet had Jan Lott. Sponsors Dirk Langstraet and Johanna Havens (his wife). Peter Lott of New York bapt. Oct. 31, 1697, at Jamaica, was a son of Abraham and Claesje Lott. The records show that Abraham moved to Jamaica where his brother Hendrick lived just before this last date.

Isaac Lott, 1704, was a son of Abraham and his 2nd wife Geertje. This appears to be their only child. Abraham Lott must have married his third wife Sara, between Isaac's birth 1704 and Jacob's birth 1716. Between 1716 anx 1718, he had again married for a fourth time, Maria or Marytie, as his last three children were born 1718-20-22.

The Dutch Reformed Church,  Brooklyn, marriages gives Aug. 2, 1695, as the date of Abram Lott's marriage to Geertje Jans Dorlandt. This date is what is wrong, many errors appear in the copies of the early records. If it read 1699, everything would check."
