Kay Barrett passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, following an extended
illness at 72 in Klamath Falls.
She was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Tacoma,
Wash., to Don A. and Catherine (Maloney) Morton. Kay was raised in
Spokane and Kennewick, Wash., and Anchorage, Alaska. She graduated from
Anchorage Union High School and attended Gonzaga University. On Aug. 24,
1963, she married William F. "Bill" Barrett at St. Aloysius Church in
Spokane. They had two children, Sean and Sheila. Kay worked for several
years in libraries, including Klamath County Public Library. She also
was employed in software marketing prior to her retirement. She was an
active member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Klamath Falls and a
member of the St. Pius X Conference of St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; her son, Sean of Washougal, Wash.;
her daughter, Sheila Beard of Klamath Falls; her sister, Monica O'Brien
of Milwaukie, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, St.
Pius X Conference, 4880 Bristol Ave., Klamath Falls, OR 97603. A rosary
will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church,
with the funeral mass at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in St. Pius followed by
a reception at the parish hall. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary
Cemetery.
