Alexander Crawford, biographical sketch

Alexander Crawford was born April 8, 1803 in Botetourt Co., VA. He died May 8, 1882 and is buried in Clay Springs Cemetary in Overton Co., TN. His parents were William Crawford and Margaret Kilpatrick of Botetourt Co., VA. There is no known marriage for Alexander.
Alexander was a surveyor and he and his brother Wm. K. Crawford owned several hundred acres of land and also a mill on Roaring River in the 2nd civil district of Overton Co., TN in the early 1800s. When Alexander died his will distributed Virginia and Tennessee properties among his nieces and nephews. My family has several letters written to Alexander from different areas of Va., and he was held in high esteem by all of his family.
Other siblings known to have been in Overton Co., were Thomas Crawford who married Rachel Dodd and Elizabeth Crawford who married Thomas Hardy. Elizabeth died in 1844 in Adams Co., IL but we do not know where Thomas settled.
Alexander was my great, great, great uncle.
