| Photos | John Blackburn home "Built in 1742 by John Blackburn (ca. 1675-1752) and his family, this typical Pennsylvania stone house is now more than 250 years old. It stands in an apple orchard, about 1/4 mile up a gravel lane on the south side of 'Potato Road'," about 1 1/2 miles west from the center of Bendersville village in Menallen Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. "Built of cut field stone, this home appears to be in excellent condition. It has been inhabited and maintained during its long life and appears to have many, many years of remaining life. Except for its rather isolated location beside Opossum Creek and out of view from the farm road about 1/8 mile away, this home appears as handsome as any in the area." |
