William Morton, brief biographical sketch based on Quaker Meeting records.

William Morton was a native Quaker of Chester Co., PA.
As a young man, father William had moved into Monongalia. There he married Elizabeth Harvey [sic] in 1794[sic], native of Philadelphia. The senior Mortons were Quakers, members of the old Sandy Creek Meeting 1.25 miles east of Brandonville, which was an outgrowth of Redstone Quaker Meeting of Fayette Co., PA. William W. Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy indicates that on 30 Nov 1804 William Morton was "disowned for disunity" (marrying outside the Quaker meeting.) William and wife Elizabeth both died in 1854, in Jefferson County, IA, when they and several of their family were migrating west to Adams County, IA.
Elizabeth's surname was Harry not Harvey. Transcription error? Year of marriage was 1804, not 1794. Lisa Allison Albert
